ExxonMobil introduces digital bunkering services in Singapore ahead of the deadline
Starting 1 April, 2025, marine fuel suppliers in Singapore must offer digital bunkering services, including electronic bunker delivery notes (eBDNs). The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) expects this initiative to save the industry up to 40,000 man-days annually.
ExxonMobil1 implemented eBDNs ahead of the deadline to help ensure a smooth transition for our customers. This proactive approach allows us to address any potential issues before the mandatory switchover date.
Key customer benefits:
- Faster turnaround: eBDNs enable quicker bunker deliveries.
- Streamlined processes: Reduced need for physical document storage.
- Integrity and trust: Integrating eBDNs with MFMS minimises the risk of manual errors or intentional tampering with fuel quantity figures, enhancing integrity and trust in fuel transactions.
Based on our experience with customers already using eBDNs2, we've seen significant improvements in efficiency and accuracy, reinforcing the benefits of this digital transition.
Jianwei Oh, ExxonMobil S&OP Supervisor, emphasises: "Digitalisation not only brings benefits for both supplier and customer, it also helps Singapore remain a competitive and relevant bunker hub.”
